The Easter Wave brings colour to Leamington

On Saturday 11 April, The Easter Wave returned to Leamington Town Centre for its second year.  Christians from across Leamington walked down The Parade, giving away chocolates and helium balloons to share the message of Easter with shoppers.

For many people, Easter means nothing more than lots of chocolate and a long weekend, but for Christians, it is the most important event in the Christian calendar.  Believing that Jesus died for everybody, not just those who go to church, is the inspiration for this event.  The Easter Wave shows our joy in Jesus' risen life and our belief that this is good news for everybody.

The service this year was held outside All Saints' Church, led by Phil Overton (Crown Way Community Church) and Andrew Attwood (St Mary's Leamington).

Chair of Churches Together in Leamington , Jonathan Jee, said 'at Easter, churches celebrate the fantastic news that we have new life and a new hope through Jesus' rising from the dead. This is good news for everybody, whatever their background or beliefs. Balloons and chocolates are small gifts, but they represent the much bigger gift of God's love which he gives freely for us to enjoy.'
